Biblical Counselor Qualifications

Trained

Experienced

Experienced

Everyone counseling with TBCC must be either in the process of completing or have finished the ACBC certification. For some staff positions, further education will be required by TBCC, including bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degrees. These degrees must be in biblical counseling or related fields within biblical or theological studies.

Experienced

Experienced

Experienced

In order to provide skilled care, we are committed to being transparent about a counselor’s level of experience. Some presenting problems are not overly complicated (e.g., anxiety), while others require significant case wisdom (e.g., divorce cases). Our goal is for every counselor to grow in case wisdom while clearly communicating each counselor’s current level of experience. Counselees will be matched with counselors based on experience and availability.

Kind

Experienced

Kind

For some individuals, biblical counseling has been biblical but unkind in their past experience. We all understand that biblical truth can be communicated in an unloving manner. Scripture teaches that those who are truly wise are gentle (James 3:13). Therefore, every counselor is required to demonstrate kindness and will be evaluated, in part, based on counselee feedback regarding this quality.
